What is most tragic is that he also lost a 16 year old son, not long ago, to an obscure form of diabetes that, had they known, a treatment existed that could have prevented his death.

This makes three of my close friends whom have gone through such a thing, loosing a spouse at an early age. However, like with my past relationships, merely being married doesn't make for a loving relationship. It is much more than this. And if one is lucky enough to KNOW love, they will never forget it when they have it. Like my buddy, he knew love, even though it was for a very short time.

It was an emotional day as you could imagine, but really drove home the point that - like they did - you must live life in "the moment" and never let a day go by that you do not allow love and passion to absolutely fill your entire being... your passions, your home, your friendships, and most importantly your loved ones - becuase one never knows how quickly such things can be taken from us.

I think the Universe is completely detached from human suffering, as much of it is caused by things out of our control (and some not) or by the actions of others... HOWEVER, the Universe does have a way of using these tragedies as an opportunity for us to contemplate the fragile state of "physical being".

The soul of course will live on and is not affected by these things, and thus when we Walk in Spirit, with that in mind, how much more meaningful our footsteps become and how much more passionately do they vibrate, simply becuase we bring Spirit into the equation.

And with Spirit, our full intention and attention to whatever we do, whatever we say and whatever we do will not only hold merit, but will hold Medicine.... and will hold Power ... and when we love love, we do so with passion and fire. When we find a worthy foe, we rend them like a hungry lion. When we engage in something we intend to do, do so with the focus of a sniper and the momentum of a high powered bullet. When we speak, speak from the heart and say what we mean, and mean what we say. All these things required "in the moment" Walking in Spirit. And when we do, we will never miss the heartbeat of those who share this path with us, or the rhythms of Circumstance that the Universe produces that we sometimes must navigate through.

This is yet another Experience, amonst many, that We will walk with. Such things are good to go through as they give us perspective, and afford strength through the navigation of challange... any challange. I think too many set themselves up for failure with the illusion of immunity of such things. They hide behind metaphores or anacronystic props, yet such things have a way of preventing meeting life's ugliest challanges like a bull with horns ready to gouge and eviscerate. We must allow ourselves to be vulnerable and raw, just as much as being hard like steel and calculated. Its the organic experience that gives us the DRIVE necessary to perserve life, rather than display it in such a way that it gathers dust behind a protective glass display case.

As the Cherokee say, "Wado"... or, "thanks for listening".

Honoring a life long friendship

Last night I had the opportunity to Honor the lift time friendship with a very good friend. It is not a "how to" book, but rather a chronical of my Reinvention. Granted, there are "Universal Truths" that I speak about, including the fact that everyones Path is uniquely their own. What might work for me may not work for you, and likewise your Path and its various elements may not work for me. There are some things that are, as previously stated, "Universal" such as how Drumming can take one into a Shamanic State of Conciousness - which has been the practice of multiple cultures throughout and even preceeding written history - which is currently practiced with success by many all over the world every day... ordinary people with very little training. My book will also offer useful tips, suggestions, and council on how to begin a meaningful Journey for yourself and how to develope a meaningful dialog with the Great Mystery and what that might look like and mean for you. I am projecting a Spring 2012 release, which will be available via Amazon.com.</p$1>

Welcome to my Re-invention... Such things, even in their negative aspects, are all positive in that they are opportunities for growth and personal reinvention.

At this crossroads, where Sigil is heading off the school at U.C. Berkeley, and I am at a place where I must find work in an area that has no jobs, and the ones that do exist are wages and positions befitting a high school graduate, I am finding a pecular call on the wind. It is a calling that has whispered to me for quite a few years now, and I have decided to surrender to the Wind.

I will be moving to Seattle (Redmond, actually) to reinvent myself. I have the love and support of both family, and of my Family up there who have offered me food and shelter while reclaiming that which is mine... a life filled with prosperity and that is surrounded and filled with that which is both enriching and esthetically pleasing.

I will miss my Sigil terribly, yet our marriage is so very strong. She will apply for Graduate School up there in WA and, in the mean time, once I am working, I will be making as frequent weekend trips as I can to see her.

Please stay tuned to this blog and consider subscribing to it, as I will update it often with my adventures, with pictures, and with observations that come to fruit with the journey. I am finding I am starting out broke and alone (for the most part), and with whatever I can fit into the car. We do have a storage full of things that one day I will come down and retrieve once I get stablized.

And so it begins... and I roll up my pantlegs and step into the current and feel its refreshing pull.

I drive out of California the last week of September.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://medicineway.blogspot.com/2010/08/welcome-to-my-re-invention-welcome-to.html' title='Welcome to my Re-invention...
